Got tired of driving my Dodge Durango as my daily, so broke down and purchased a new whip.

2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe - 6 speed manual - all factory options except navi - upgraded factory wheels - 63k miles.

Picked her up this morning. Drives amazing and it's nice having that power on tap. Got her back and washed her. Already installed the new Nismo titanium shift knob I've had sitting around for a while, and also put in the new JDM Nissan clear corners. Taking the taillights to have them smoked tomorrow, and pulling the headlights apart this weekend to paint the housings black. Few pics:

I used Dupli-Color Trim Black for the bezels. This is about 6 light coats later.

Bezel finished and ready to reinstall. There's actually a small silver accent piece that slides in. I chose to leave it silver. It's in the top opening.

Little update. Car is now lowered on Tein H-Techs, I installed a JWT Pop Charge and Z1 Motorsports Z-tube, and also modified and installed a RHD battery cover for the driver side (was previously not covered)

New exhaust is on the way right now.

Alright, got the exhaust put on the car last weekend. Went with the Skunk2 Megapower Exhaust System. They're not made anymore and are pretty rare. It's a true dual 2.5" exhaust system, cat back. Nice DEEP sound.

Got rid of the JWT Pop Charger and Z1 Motorsports Z-Tube and went instead with a Stillen Hi-Flow Intake Kit with Stillen Z-Tube. Love this intake setup so much more than the other one.

Small update:

Installed my new Gialla Corsa grill today, and also installed my JDM "bump" corner lights. Installed a stainless steel clutch line a few weeks back.

Sitting on my table right now is an Uprev Osiris ECU reflasher. Just waiting on the base map to come in, so hopefully Monday I'll reflash.

31 January, 2011:

As per my last post, grabbed the roommate and the laptop and went for a drive. Had him start and stop the logs as needed. Did all my 0-60's and cruising logs and sent the info back to UpRev. Hopefully in about another week I'll have the finalized tune for the G. Can't wait!

Anyway, in the meantime, did some more work. Here goes:

Stillen Engine Damper is installed. It's the red cylinder in this picture. It's hands down one of my most effective and simple modifications I've done. Car was instantly tons more responsive, and just all around a lot more fun to drive.

Avid Performance Billet Transmission Mount with 60A Urethane next to the stocker. This mount seriously only stayed on my car a couple of hours. On my first test run, I encountered an odd, and very loud, engine sound emanating from the chassis that was just a hair off frequency wise from the exhaust. It also added way too much vibration to the car. Took it back off and the car is comfortable again. This is right back up for sale.

Shot of my Z1 Motorsports Stainless Steel clutch line (the red part), as well as my Berck high flow cat and the heat wrapped DC header. Months later, the heat wrap/sealer still looks brand new. Very happy with how that turned out.

Been a minute since I updated this thread. Not a whole lot has changed. Been working on my two motorcycles this year... trying to get those projects done. Now that the SV is finished and the Daytona is close, it's time to show a little love to the G once more.

First, I installed a set of Hella Supertone Horns

Next up was tracking down a Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi shift knob. These things are pretty rare and hard to come by. It really is a great shift knob though!

Finally I had to wait around for a while for dealerships to start getting parts again from Japan. I finally got my hands on a set of JDM Nissan Skyline 350GT Tail Lights. They have just a bit darker tint, and the turn signal is amber instead of just red like the USDM version.

I didn't take a picture of it, but I also installed a Motordyne 5/16" Plenum Spacer, and will hopefully soon be getting a Motordyne MREV2 Lower Manifold to go with it.

Also not pictured were the revised Nissan Clutch Master Cylinder and Nissan Clutch Slave Cylinder I installed to get the clutch back to normal.

Installed my NiftyShifty suede shift boot with silver stitching to go along with my Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi shift knob.

New passenger valve cover installed. As I'd later find out, the lower rear corner of the gasket fell out and once the engine cranked oil went all over the header. Had to rip the bay back down and go back in and fix it. That was fun.

New RJM Performance Revised Clutch Pedal Bracket. This replaces the stock unit and allows full adjustability to custom tailor the clutch to the owner's taste. The stock setup made it to where from fully engaged to disengaged was only probably half an inch out of the full travel of the pedal. The rest was just dead space.

Also started noticing a rough idle not long ago. Turned out to be a nice gash in the bottom of the coupler on the left, and being as it was after the MAF it was letting in enough unmetered air to mess with things. Ordered and installed the replacement and everything is back to normal.

Few more things done this weekend.

The rear suspension uses what are known as eccentric bolts from the factory to adjust (to a small degree) camber and toe. They are basically a bolt with an oblong washer on either side of a hole that, when rotated, adjusts in and out. Obviously once the car is lowered, the small amount of adjustability they have is no longer useful, so parts need to be changed out.

To adjust the camber, I bought a set of SPL Pro Rear adjustable camber arms (on the right, vs the stock arm on the left):

Since the stock eccentric bolts no longer serve a purpose, and could actually screw up the camber adjustment later, it's best to delete them from the equation. It's not as simple as just installing a regular bolt as the hole is elongated for adjustment purposes, so you need a lockout kit with square washers to hold the bolts center. I used an SPL Pro eccentric lockout kit (new setup on the right, versus the stock eccentric bolts on the left. Grade 10.8 hardware):

To handle the toe, I am going to use an aftermarket eccentric bolt kit from SPC that offers a lot more adjustability. They are currently on their way. Unfortunately, reviews have stated that the bolts in the kit are inferior. Luckily I have an extra set of 10.8 bolts right now, so I'll be taking those along with the SPC bolts to the local machine shop and having them machined to match. The purpose behind this is that the 10.8 bolts will hold torque and won't stretch, so once the toe is set, the bolts won't elongate and loosen and lose that setting. Those will be going in next week and then FINALLY off for a full alignment!

I also took the time today to reinstall the Mt Fuji emblem on the trunk:

Also, not pictured, I finally found a replacement set of lenses for the headlights. I polished them up, then installed them along with new LED city lights. So nice not having cracks and such in my headlights!

I'm also really considering an LS2 swap next year. There's several different kits on the market and a full wiring harness that allow you to fully integrate the LS2 into the car. I'm thinking that 450 or so whp from a V8 sounds pretty damn good.

I put the roof spoiler on this week and hated it. Pulled it back off and sold it. The new diffuser is being finished right now and should be to my home in a week or two.

I also had some custom rear toe bolts made up. They allow +/- 3 degrees of adjustment. Here's the post I made on another site about them:

Here's the explanation behind what we did:

Here's a couple of teaser shots from tonight:

New eccentric washers about halfway through their program on the CNC machine.

So here's what we've come up with:

First and foremost, instead of removing a ton of material from a single side of the bolt to "key" it, we are removing material from both sides of the bolt. This actually gives more flat surface to hold the washers straight, and takes less total material out of the bolt (to further guard against stretching). It should also give the torque nut a better grip on the bolt (so it'll hold that torque better). Another benefit is that since there is a flat side toward the outer edge of the washer, there's more material there now which should make it stronger.

Second, and equally important, we CNC machined new washers out of stainless. The original SPC washers are machine punched which makes them very sloppy with a larger radius on one side of the washer and a smaller radius on the flip side. The punching also makes the key hole very sloppy (some have found up to 5 degrees of slop in that area alone). The washers will fit snugly now on the bolts, and also carry the new key design. The bolt center is in the same position on these as the SPC's, so the adjustability will still be +/- 3 degrees.

Finally, we've decided to weld the washer closest of the bolt head to the bolt to mimic the OEM design. This will eliminate any chance of rounding out of the washers..

I should have the finished products tomorrow night. I'll still be utilizing the SPC pattern to enlarge the toe bolt holes on the car, as the adjustment will be the same as the SPC kit.

I've talked to my guy that's making the new parts, and he says he won't mind doing up a few kits. I just have to talk pricing with him.

i have a cheapo beltronics that works pretty good... def a must have. gotten me out of so many potential tickets. people constantly tell me that it doesn't work though, lol. police don't seem to care about it either but one day i had to drive onto Hanscom AFB for work and I thought they were gonna shoot me. i totally spaced that radar equipment should probably be put away and they were like WTF bro at the gate. they didn't even want to see it on the windshield so i literally had to stuff it in my glove box haha.

a valentine i looked at was like $450... no thx

The price was worth it to me after all the reviews I've read. Definitely not going to drop the coin to get one for all my vehicles though. Just trying to go the premium route with the G. No BLOX or APC on this car, just quality.

the valentines are nice tho i think my uncle had one that displayed which direction the signal was coming from or something like that. i just need a little audible blip and i'm set. i used to get caught all the time at night, squad cars with no lights etc. no more

This one displays the direction. It does a LOT of stuff that other detectors I've had in the past just didn't do.

One of my friends said "let me know how it works." I told him I hoped I didn't have to, lmao.

It's definitely a nice piece, especially with the mount and wiring. Nice addition to my car for sure.

the problem out here is all the cops use laser, and its turned off until they hit you, then you are SOL no matter what. the detector goes off, but its already too late.

i did notice with the Escorts though they have a more sensative Laser detection so if they hit the cars around you it willgo off.

Finally some new stuff for the G!

Got around to installing my Motordyne MREV2 Lower Intake Manifold and Copper Iso-Thermal 5/16" Spacer. Did the logs tonight and will hopefully have a new tune within a week or two to fully take advantage of these parts and also my ART pipes I installed a while back.

This lower intake manifold is dyno proven multiple times over to make 15 WHP plus and 20 plus wheel torque. Not bad for a N/A bolt on!

The copper spacer for the throttle body. This allows the TB to still heat up and operate properly in cold weather, while helping (in conjunction with an aramid intake manifold gasket) to reduce manifold temperatures.

I will be doing a dyno at some point. I'm pretty much done now with power gainers, with the exception of either a Stillen or Motordyne exhaust to be bought and installed sometime in the next year.

In the next month or so I'll be ordering a Competition Clutch lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch.

My stocker is at 80,000 or so miles, and simply can't handle the power right now. Needs replaced badddddd...

Did a little more today:

Replaced the projector lenses in my headlights for clear units that allow better light output and a more colorful cutoff.

Stock headlight projector lens.

Clear lens on the left, stock fresnel lens on the right.

Back together with the new clear lens.
