30 January, 2009:

Well, two days of gun shopping at an end. Got myself some nice new toys. Only things not pictured that I've bought are two Burris Scopes. One for my 30.06 (to replace the POS Simmons) and the others for my new .17 HMR.

7 February, 2009:

Picked up two more firearms tonight. Went in to grab a 9mm, walked out with a 9mm and a rifle. DAMN!!!

Oh well.

The two chilling on the floor.

Remington Model 700 CDL Left Hand in .243 (dealer made me an offer I really couldn't refuse). Just need to order the scope for it.

Sig Sauer P229 9mm. Also extra clip. This gun is sweet!

7 March, 2009:

Bit of an update:

New Glock Model 23. Bought this one for concealed carry and I quickly ended up getting a lot of cool little mods for it. Here it is with a list of what's done:

So far I've done the following:

2 mags with Pearce +1 extensions
1 standard mag
2 Law Enforcement/Government Only stamped mags
Trijicon Night Sights
Extended Mag Release
Extended Slide Release
Extended Slide Catch (Takedown Pin)
Storm Lake 2 Port SS Extended Barrel
Sprinco Recoil Reducer Spring and Captive Rod Kit

Next we have my new Springfield XDm 9mm with Stainless Slide. No upgrades at all yet.

And my new H&K USP .45 with Grey Lower. Pretty rare to see the grey, so that's why I got it. This one has the Law Enforcement clips with it.

And I know I mentioned it in an earlier post, but I also got some pics of all my new Burris Scopes. Put the Burris scopes on my Savage .17, Remington 30.06, and the new Remington .243. Anyway, the pics.

22 March, 2009:

Few more here:

First, the Glock 23 has seen a few more upgrades. Here it is in Concealed Carry form:

The latest upgrades are as follows:
-Siderlock Safety Trigger - so I have an actual safety that can be engaged on the weapon
-Lone Wolf Trigger Connector - 3.5 lb pull
-Wolff 5 lb Trigger Spring
-Wolff 3 lb Firing Pin Spring
-Lasermax Recoil Spring Laser Unit

As you can see, I switch back to the OEM barrel for Concealed Carry.

Next up we have my new Para Ordnance 6.45 LDA - Very sweet weapon

And finally my new Ruger 10/22 with Laminated Stock and Hammer Forged Bull Barrel - Need to order a Burris Scope for this beast:

16 May, 2009:

Latest purchase:

Sig 556.

Got a cool list of mods I'll be doing to it over the next few months. Can't wait! Very slick piece and I'm extremely happy to have it in my collection at last.

7 June, 2009:

Mounted up a Burris "Mr. T" Titanium Black Diamond 3.5-10x50 scope on the 30.06. Used a relatively new mounting system called "DedNutz." All I can say is the quality of these scope mounts is ridiculous, and I'll be using these eclusively from now one. One piece design means no parts to shear and mess up.

Also tore the 556 down all the way and cleaned the holy hell out of it. Shot amazingly well at the range last weekend. Definitely in my top 5 now. Anyways, a couple pics:

Front view of the new scope

Rear view

Side view up closer so you can see the mount.

Sig completely torn down.

1 July, 2009:

New addition to the family:

Browning Theftgard Gun Safe

Inside The Door

Ammo, Magazines, Etc. Just noticed the shelf is bowing. Probably have to remedy that soon.

Most of my favorite knives. These are the real expensive ones or the ones that have sentimental value.

Pistols and Pistols. Looks like there's room for another, so the search is on.

Rifle/Longgun Area. Still messing with how to best fit the most into this, it's a work in progress.

25 August, 2009:

Upgraded some parts on the Sig 556:

MagPul CTR Commercial Adjustable Stock
Lancer Systems L5 Translucent 30 Round Magazines
Primary Weapons Systems FSC556 Compensator/Flash Hider (read up on it, it's insane)

More to come very soon.

02-12-2012, 12:01 PM
6 September, 2009:

More new stuff on the 556.

-Custom fit a MagPul MOE Grip (took me two hours to shape it right and modify it to fit)
-Added a MagPul Enhanced Metal Trigger Guard (only required slight modification)
-Added MagPul Magazine Pulls to the Lancer Magazines.

The pics:

11 August, 2011:

Well, the Sig has come quite a ways since I picked it up off Grey a few years ago. Here's a couple new shots:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/281640_2252200705831_1272672326_2677663_6322420_n. jpg
Torn down for a good cleaning.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/283951_2252201145842_1272672326_2677664_7639266_n. jpg
New iteration - Got rid of the Eotech Holo Sight for a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 Scope and mounted it on a Burris PEPR Quick Detach mount.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/283163_2252206505976_1272672326_2677667_3414823_n. jpg
Other add-ons haven't changed. I got rid of the Magpul AFG and picked up a Grip Pod. Aside from that I still have the Troy rail, Troy micro BUIS, Troy Handguards, Revised Charging Handle, MagPul Revised Trigger Guard, MagPul MOE Grip, MagPul CTR Stock, MagPul ASAP Sling and mount plate, Primary Weapon Systems FSC556 Compensator, etc, etc, etc.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/283019_2252212746132_1272672326_2677669_7547956_n. jpg
Scope mount comes off super easy, and has a really awesome return to zero, so I'm thinking about picking up a second optic for close-range.

Anyway, one step closer to preparedness for the Zombie Apocalypse.

02-13-2012, 11:51 AM
lol i forget you are a lefty

03-24-2012, 12:14 PM
love the collection.

03-27-2012, 12:18 AM
I absolutely hate the new foregrip. I am sure it is very effective and all, but it is ugly as shit to me. IMO, go back to the Magpul AFG and get a separate telescoping bi pod. Other than that...sex. Your collection is something I envy.

I still only have the russian mosin that I modified, the finish m28 that is unmodified and the cz452. I want to pick up an AR15 from palmetto state by the end of this year, along with a shotgun (probably mossberg 500) and, hopefully, a marlin 444 lever action.

03-27-2012, 12:20 AM
On a side note, I have the same sling by magpul on my russian mosin, it is so well made in the USA, I was shocked. Especially because they are so cheap. I just did not expect that kind of strength and quality for such a reasonable price.

05-24-2012, 12:25 PM
Added a set of flip-up scope covers and a GG&G Tactical Bipod to the 556:

05-29-2012, 11:08 AM
Here are some pictures of my 1942 Mosin Nagant m91/30. It has an ATI synthetic stock, Magpul 2/1 point sling, Chinese military scope mount, Burris 3-9x40 fullfield scope, and a custom made 4" sniper bolt. All the machining work (drilling the receiver for the scope, floating the barrel in the stock, sniper bolt etc) was done by my buddy and I.

The last gun is my new CZ 452 ultra lux in 22LR. It has a 28.6in barrel, adjustable brass trigger, and a 6-24x50 tasco scope.

05-31-2012, 04:10 PM
nice work on the turn down

06-01-2012, 02:48 AM
Thanks. The metal used to manufacture these guns is very difficult to work with to say the least. I cannot anneal it before machining, and every component of the gun is triple hardened 4140 steel. It ranks in the 90+ range on the rockwell hardness scale which basically means you cant drill it without cobalt or pure carbide. Both of those are extremely brittle so the drilling setup you use must be completely stable or you will fracture the bits. I actually broke two 50$ end mills that were made of cobalt vanadium on my home drill press before bringing the thing to work to use the bridgeport mill that they have.

I have some more photos where I actually smoothed out the weld on the bolt handle with a laser and polished alot more. Also - I cut the scope mount down by several inches and laser welded it back together. The bolt barely slides under the scope now when I cycle it.

07-30-2012, 12:28 AM

Almost done with the PSA AR15. Everything is assembled. I am still trying to finish the muzzle brake. May happen this week. Anyways, it has a Magpul front end with the vertical grip and rails. Burris fullfield 3-9x40 and a bushnell TRS-25 red dot. I also got an oversized charging handle since the milspec doesnt really work with a scope over the handle. It was too small, I couldnt grip it at all with the scope in the way.

Mods to complete to finish the build are; Custom muzzle brake, lower scope rings, folding bipod, maybe some back up iron sights, although I have no idea how I am going to mount them. Probably a sling to finish off the build.

What do you guys think of how I cut the front irons off? I think I may need to cut them down more and really smooth it out. I blued it with some cold blue from brownell's that my buddy had laying around.

07-30-2012, 11:17 AM
personally would have went with the rail mounted gasblock instead of taking off the front sight. reason being is the Magpul handguard uses the top slot to vent heat instead of rail mounts. Aslo seems like you need a more forward style scope, either that or move the rear scope mount more forward on the tube. i dont know how you plan to run BUIS, as your scope doesnt give you see through capabilities (unless you decide to upgrade to quick change)... maybe mount them canted.

i still personally dont like how high the RDS is, thats some height over bore. other wise it looks good.

07-31-2012, 12:13 AM
I will probably take the rail that is on top of the foregrip off. I just had it on to see if it might be possible to mount an iron sight to it, but it sits too high. I cut down the front iron sight just to see how it looked, I do not like the look of the gas blocks with rails, but, I will probably end up having to use them. There are those 45 degree offset rail adapters that may work with a magpul ironsight mounted to the 10 oclock position on the magpul foregrip. It looks like it sits too low though. I am going to be dropping the entire scope/RDS by a good half inch with the new scope rings, however, where they are positioned, they are very comfortable..for me anyways. Keep in mind, I am sort of a big guy.

07-31-2012, 01:16 AM
lol Im 6'0 and fat. the main thing you want to remember is keeping proper cheek weld. you can roll out easier than lift and keep cheek weld.

08-10-2012, 01:52 AM
Hah, well I have about half a foot on you Pun. I replaced the rings with new ones that are much higher quality. Locking hex nut to hold on the rail, six alan bolts on each ring. They are also low, they barely fit my scope they are so low. With the red dot on top, I can keep my jaw firmly mounted against the stock while aiming. When aiming through the scope, it feels like I am resting my head on the stock. My shoulder sort of gets it the way, but it is comfortable. and I did take that top rail off the foregrip.

Just need some back up irons, bipod, and maybe a laser for the front, then it is done.

11-08-2012, 06:14 PM
Been spending all my moneys on road racing, nothing new since *** days.

11-08-2012, 06:21 PM
/\ LOL at the word filter...

11-09-2012, 04:34 AM
I just picked up my first shotgun. Its a Browning 12ga pump built by Stevens. Its in meh condition, could use some polishing and fresh bluing and oil, but, the action feels really solid and there really isnt any damage on it. 115$ for it. Early 1900s with that goofy stepped receiver that brownings used to have.

11-09-2012, 04:37 AM
**So its a stevens Ranger model 520 12ga.

11-25-2012, 06:55 PM

1918 Stevens 520 12gauge cut down to a 19in barrel. I am going to make a grip with no stock on it and buy the ww1 heatshield/bayonet attachment.

12-21-2012, 11:28 AM
Thinking of buying a cz858 "Canadian"

12-22-2012, 10:43 AM
What is that chambered in Gimpy?

12-22-2012, 05:25 PM

12-22-2012, 10:58 PM
Should have guessed that. Evil looking gun, must be chambered in an evil caliber... A damn good caliber that is. I shot a mini 14 with a folding stock chambered in that a few months ago... it was nuts... and awesome.

12-23-2012, 01:16 AM
Wow that is nice. Every gun you mention gets added to my list lol.

12-28-2012, 12:05 PM
Found out that there is a non-restricted(Canaduh) model of the VZ-58 with a chrome lined barrel available in early 2013. So I'll be waiting until then to make my first firearm purchase.

12-28-2012, 12:43 PM
with the way ammo is right now (not sure if the panic buying effects canada), do it

01-02-2013, 11:19 AM
You think the barrel insert would affect the accuracy?

Oh and I'm scrapping the CZ-858 with the "Canadian" furniture. There's a beaver barf "VZ-58" coming to Canada with a chrome lined barrel in March. Worth the wait I think.

01-04-2013, 03:45 AM
Im sure its not the best method of attaching a barrel, but lets be honest here, its 22LR, you dont shoot 22LR out of a semi auto AK style firearm for the accuracy. 22LR is so low pressure, I bet the insert works decently well, not like the wall thickness needs to be that great anyway. I wonder how well the insert is held in, I bet it effects barrel harmonics in a terrible way.

Legally in Ontario, the 7.62 × 39 mm round is just over the minimum ft/lbs to take a deer. Other then fawn there's not much I would hunt with it. The reasons I would be buying this kit (probably won't) are for hunting small game if I'm out target shooting (and have something left to eat... or in the case of raccoon hunting, a decent pelt) and also its a pretty decent SHTF situation or zombie apocalypse load-out. ;P Basically an excuse to take this out as much as possible for reasons other than target shooting.

01-26-2013, 09:23 PM
7.62x39 is a really solid round. Its got some solid stopping power for a relatively small semi auto firearm. Are those bullets .308" or .311"? If they are .308, you have some awesome options for custom loads.

If I were you Gimpy, I would buy one of those rifles (if they have a decent price) before they get banned.

03-08-2013, 01:34 PM
Update. Picked up a couple new additions around christmas.

Just finished the build:

BCM 16" 5.56 upper
All MOE furniture
WMD Nickle Boron BCG
Geisselle SSA Trigger Group

Once I had the parts, I put the whole damm rifle together (including building the lower) in about 20min. Now looking at whats happened to 5.56 ammo, I wish I went 5.45.

Kel Tec PMR30 .22Mag 30rds.

Finding this thing was like looking for Jesus riding a bicycle, it took almost a year to come up with one that wasn't $1000 for a $450 MSRP gun. It is VERY lightweight, pretty damm accurate with almost no recoil, and 30rds give you alot of lead to throw!

After waiting for quite some time. I picked up a used mossberg 500 5 shot.. I wanted the 8 shot, but the price was right. I would like an M4 grip, but not really worried, its a stay at home/home defense.

Life sized kid manikin.

Did someone say suppressor? How about an Osprey 45? Makes this 1911 clone sound like a cap gun...inside a garage...with no hearing protection.

Just picked up one of these Stevens 320 HD shotties during Black Friday

With my reward points, i got the Shotty, a 5 rnd stock sleeve, tactical light/laser, and 200 rnds of ammo for just under 245.00

Only other thing i really plan on doing to it is adding a swivel sling mount on the stock and a Blackhawk sling thats on order
