what am picture size restriction, i tried posting a link to a 640x480, 144kb and i get an error that is too large

Click on insert image> from url> and paste the url in the box

uncheck that box at the bottom that says: "Retrieve remote file and reference locally". It basically wants to save a copy of the image locally to the forum and host it internally. If you uncheck the box it will just do a direct link to an offsite source.
